Union meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 9am at Saints Avenue Cafe in Boone

The following message was provided from the general committee on how to request unpaid days off as provided for in the national agreement.

*** ATTENTION MEMBERS OF SMART-TD GO953 ***

Please follow the following process for requesting unpaid days off for preventative medical appointments as allowed under the 2022 National Agreement. When carrier has their computer programming complete to allow for self-service requests, new instructions will be issued.

E-mail the following information at least 35 days in advance of your appointment to:
medical_layoff@utu953.org

Our office will communicate with CMS to arrange for approval of your appointment and then reply to you. Your email must include the following info:

• Employee Name
• Employee ID #
• Date of appointment
• Additional information regarding any expected preparation or recovery days

The Temporary Lodging, Displacement & Notification agreement has been amended. It can be downloaded here. The time to place yourself after you have been bumped has reverted back to 24 hours. The previous version allowed for lodging when forced to a location 100 miles from your most recent work location — that has been reduced to 75.

The Q&As for the tentative agreement have been released for membership review.

Below you will find the tentative national agreement. The ratification vote has not yet been scheduled, but is expected to take place sometime in mid-October.

We’ve updated the Railroad Technology Event Report Form to better conform with the National Office’s request for information on technology-related failures that we encounter in the field. The Carrier is arguing that technological innovations can replace our jobs and the documentation of the failures of these technologies is vital in our argument that the two-person crew consist must be maintained. Copies will be posted in the yard office and a digital copy can be found at the bottom of this post. Please submit filled-out forms to the SMART-TD cutslip box in the yard office.
